Hi, I’m
Cody Johnson, LCSW, MSW
I’m a therapist in Midvale specializing in teens, young adults, and parents who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected.
My work focuses on helping people build emotional regulation, clarity, motivation, and healthier patterns inside their family relationships.
My Path
Why I Do This Work:
I know what it’s like to look strong on the outside while feeling disconnected on the inside. That’s a place I’ve been myself — and for nearly 20 years, I’ve helped teens, young adults, and families move through similar seasons with more clarity, confidence, and connection.
Beyond Therapy:
Healing isn’t just professional for me — it’s personal. Studying anthropology taught me that across cultures, people heal through nature, community, and creativity — not through force and pressure. That perspective still shapes how I work today.
Outside of sessions, you’ll probably find me in a bookstore, flipping through records, hiking quiet trails, or rewatching Star Wars. These are the places I return to for simplicity, meaning, and connection.
The Unforced Path
The Philosophy That Shapes My Entire Approach
Let’s cut to the chase:
Most therapy adds more doing to your plate.
More strategies. More tasks. More pressure to constantly “work on yourself.”
This work is the opposite.
I learned this the hard way — years of trying to fix myself only created more pressure.
I help you Slow Down so you can actually hear what’s true inside again.
No performing your healing.
No forcing change.
When you stop pushing and start listening inward — your nervous system returns to balance naturally.
That’s how lasting change happens.
Not from intensity — but from alignment.
and I’m Here to Help You Create it
How I Work
In session, I’m grounded, attentive, and real. My job is to help you find steadiness in your nervous system, clarity in your inner world, and practical shifts that make life feel less overwhelming.
I move with you — not ahead of you.
I don’t force breakthroughs or push people into change they’re not ready for. We focus on understanding what’s underneath the stress, the shutdown, or the conflict, and building a more confident, connected version of you.
My approach blends somatic awareness, mindfulness, and simple tools that work in real life. Some clients meet with me in the office; others benefit from movement or outdoor sessions when it feels right. What matters most is helping you feel grounded and capable again.
